Founded in 1916, the American Board of Ophthalmology (ABO) is an independent,
nonprofit organization responsible for certifying ophthalmologists (eye physicians
and surgeons) in the United States. The mission of the ABO is to serve the
public by improving the quality of ophthalmic practice through a certification
and maintenance of certification process that fosters excellence and encourages
continual learning.
The Online Services Center is the portal for participation in Certification and Maintenance of Certification processes. To access the Online Services Center, you must login using your username and password supplied by the Board. If you are a candidate for Board certification and you do not have your username and password, click here. The late deadline to register for the 2009 WQE is now over. In late January 2009, candidates will be sent instructions for scheduling a test appointment at an ACT testing center. Click here for more information about the WQE.

The deadline to register for the June 5-7, 2009 Oral Examination is February 15, 2009. To register, log into your candidate status page.

Maintenance of Certification
Registration of MOC Components Disabled Until January 19, 2009
Due to beginning of year administration purposes, the registration of MOC components (ORR, PORT and DOCK) will be disabled from January 1 through January 19, 2009. The remaining interactive features, such as CME Tracking and updating profile information (license information, address, phone number and email address) will still be available. On January 19, access to register for MOC components will resume for diplomates who are eligible. Please refer to the MOC timeframe chart to determine the specific requirements for each group of diplomates.
